Luanda is the largest city in Angola, Africa and it is also the capital. The city and country sit on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Founded by Portuguese settlers in 1575, the majority of the population is of Portuguese decent and thus speak the native tongue. Much of the city is poor, due to expensive merchandise, high rent and property taxes and low wages.

Kwanza (Kwz) is the currency used in the country, introduced after the War for Independence from Portugal and before the Angolan Civil War. It is discouraged from going out of the country and is not possible to be converted. The banking system is unstable for private use. It is strongly encouraged to have a stateside account when visiting the country.
